What: The 75th Anniversary running of the Cincinnati Soap Box Derby and the 20th Anniversary running of the Cincinnati Mini Grand Prix. Cincinnati Soap Box Derby is a race for kids, ages 8 thru 17 years old, who built gravity powered race cars from kits and compete in Double-elimination races. Winner of each division goes to Akron for World Championships in July. Cincinnati Mini Grand Prix is a corporate-themed go-cart race for adults. Teams of 5 people compete in a 1/3-mile temporary road course and compete in five heats of racing. Winners in two divisions get bragging rights fo the next year or more.
When: DerbyRacing begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday. Mini Grand Prix races beginat 11 a.m. on Saturday.
.Where: West Third St. and Central Ave. Parking is available on Pete Rose Way -- accessed from Mehring Way.
.How much: Admission to event is free. Bring a cooler (no beer or alcohol please) or enjoy food from Pit 2 Plate BBQ serving food both days
Things to watch for:
Super Kids race on Saturday. Special two-seater cars for kids with disabilaties and unable to drive by themselves.
Adult Soap Box races on Sunday
Awarding of Nuesole Trophy both afternoons
Cincinnati Mayor’s Cup Derby race on Sunday
